The AIDS workshop yesterday was as boring as hell. Informative, but boring. With exception to the brain storming sessions that seemed more sex education than AIDs to me. I swear i have never, ever seen mr yow so red in the face before...and i wonder how he knew that having sex on a regular basis helps improve blood circulation...xD Why did ms hoo say that you should always watch a bit of porn before getting started on a 'session'? How did she know? Hmm...

I've been reading a lot of gadget magazines for the past two years and most of them have some sorta top ten list for everything, especially Stuff mag: best PC, best laptop, best music player, best video player, best DVD player, best handphone, best home theatre system...everything, so here's my top ten list of gadgets(well at least half of them) that i want, but most likely cant afford...xD:

1) Ibanez BTB 400QM electric bass(rm1700)
2) Ibanez SA S36FM electric guitar(rm1750)
3) distortion pedal
4) bass amp
5) Line 6 75W Spider-III amp(rm1190)/ 60W Smarvo amp(rm895)
6) Samsung Z140(rm899)
7) Canon PowerShot A460(rm499)
8) Altec Lansing MX5021 (rm540)
9) Shure SE530 headphones(rm1k++)
10) Nissan Skyline GTR R-34(rm180k++) xD

Apple iPod Video vs Creative Zen: Vision M

I dont know why so many ppl like the ipod so much, its not really that good if you really think about it. For me, the punchy sound that you cant get on any other player is the only thing that's great about it. Other than that it doesnt really make much sense, especially when compared with the Creative Zen: Vision M that i have. Think about it: if you're gonna put videos into an ipod, you need to convert everything into mp4 first, and conversion takes a looong time. To get videos into the Zen all you can just copy it straightaway as it supports all major formats: mpeg-1, mpeg-2, avi, wmv and mp4. The Zen can handle more music formats like mp3, wma and wav files while the ipod can only read mp3, AAC(Apple's proprietary format) and wav files. The Zen has a sharper, clearer and brighter screen compared to the ipod. Most important though is the sound quality of both players. The ipod has punchier sound but then the Zen has more clarity so in this aspect it boils down to personal preference. The Zen also has a custom equalizer where you can adjust all the frequency levels to your satisfaction but the ipod has mere presets.
As we can see here, the Creative is so much better, so why bother getting an ipod at all? Of course, looks is a completely different issue here, but then functions should always be placed before form. So ppl, the next time you wanna get a new music and video player, get a Creative: Zen Vision M and forget the ipod...xD

As opposed to many ppl, my weekend wasnt really that busy, mainly because i didnt go for cheer. For some reason my parents wouldnt let me go, saying that it wasnt my kinda thing...wth!! Alia's party was great...lotsa ppl showed up...it started at 8 but Jon and i arrived there at around 9 because we got lost, partly due to Jon's not-so-good sense of direction. After eating there was a lot of dancing, the place was like a disco...xD There was techno music and all, though i didnt dance much as i wasnt much of a dancer. So after that i fetched Jon and Nabil back who were supposed to have been brought home by *ahem* Faris. So that was pretty much what i did over the weekend, apart from the dinner at Italianies at 1u on Sunday.

Ms Kalai found a pair of ipod headphones after PC ended on thursday and seeing that she didnt want them because of her fear of having ear infection she gave them to me. So now when i use them my Zen sounds like an ipod! All this while i thought the ipod's great, punchy sound came from within the player itself, but now i
know its because of the headphones. Most ppl think that the headphones you use dont really make any difference, but they're wrong, it makes a HUGE difference especially in terms of bass and clarity. Most of the bundled stock earphones that come with music players arent really that good, with the exception of Sony's and ipod's, so you should always upgrade to a better pair of cans if possible. My dad got me this pair of Sony headphones i really wanted, the type with the silicon earbuds that you really insert deep into your ears, and the sound quality of this thing is great, there's plenty of bass, its really clear and well-balanced, but then it cost like 200 bucks! Of course, you get what you pay for though this is only mid-range, the high end ones, especially the ones from German makers like Sennheiser and Shure, which can go from rm400 to over 1k...xD

So our class has been moved down to the second floor to make way for the IB students. Why move us? Why not just shift them down there and leave us alone? It's not that i'm complaining or anything, but then i've noticed that the IB students get a lot of privileges compared to us. Its not like they're paying more, because the amount we're paying is about the same. Like during assemblies they get to sit on chairs while we have to sit on the floor. Their classes have nice new Panasonic projectors that cost like 6k and they even get speakers! Why is it that the school gives them speakers and and we dont get any? We need them too! We also have presentations to do and movies to watch, and its not like they're expensive, their just cheap, sucky entry level speakers that cost around rm100. So why are we being moved to some old, dusty classroom that used to be mr yow's staffroom? Some ppl say its because poor old mr jonathan craw cant walk that far, but i think thats unlikely to be the case. I'm not blaming the IB students for this because its the school that makes all these decisions. I just think that they should give us equal treatment...at least get some speakers installed in our classes too! xD

On a lighter note, today a bunch of us went to Zoo Negara as volunteers to help do some cleaning up. Most of us were from the Nature Society but there also others who participated. We were divided into mostly groups of 5 when we got there, but my group had 7: Chien Wen, Nabil, Jon, Leon, Aleena, Melissa and myself. Nabil wanted tigers, so we got to clean up the tiger's enclosure! What we did was mostly sweeping up dead leaves and packing them in bags. Then someone showed us the lions, male and female, as well as two cubs. When told they were 7 months old we pictured cubs the size of cats but they turned out to be 5-feet giants! We also got to see a tiger which was really tame, compared to the lions that acted like as though they wanted to eat us...here are some pix:

One thing i've noticed these days is that the food in the canteen runs out really fast during recess. Like yesterday. The prawn mee was gone. I've been looking forward to it since the start of the week and when break time finally came, it was gone. I was late for like only 10 minutes and already the prawn mee and nasi lemak have all been snapped up. All that was left were the tasteless stuff. If the canteen ppl know that the soup noodles and nasi lemak are the most popular dishes, why dont they just prepare enough for everyone? I think the food like kueh tiao and bihun are there for those who cant get the better ones on time...xD. Aargh...the dissatisfaction of eating tasteless food...

Mr Hafiz hasnt finished marking our bio papers yet...can you believe this guy? Tells us that he didnt want to do it during the holidays as he'll end up being really tired when school starts...what kinda lame excuse is that? He said on monday that he forgot to bring them...ooo...well its because he's only done with paper 1...nothing else to say about this...

Oh theres this video on youtube where a bunch of people collect donations for a brand new PS3, wait in line for like 12 hours during the launch, buy it and then smash it with a sledgehammer in front of everyone else in line...i think its really a waste but they say its some kinda social experiment...heres the link: smashmyps3

The dudes that did this also did the same thing to the Nintendo Wii at its launch: smashmywii

Enjoy! xD

School's started after two weeks of holidays...funny thing is when i had finally gotten into the holiday mood there was only two days left...sucks huh? When i realised that there were a lot of things i wanted to do the holidays were over...how unfair is that? I spent a huge chunk of my time in shopping malls wandering around looking at electronics stores and magazine stands and if you observe carefully the Sony Style store at the Curve has only like 5 sales people and like close to 30 potential customers around, so almost all of them were left alone while said sales people sat at the counters looking at their fingernails...xD

While i was in ipoh my cousin lent her CSI DVDs to me so i spent most of my time watching them in my room. That kinda sums up what i did during the holidays, apart from the swimming lessons for which i had to wake up at 10 in the morning.

So its been pretty much waiting for my exam results to be revealed...got an A for everything so far except for physics, for which i got a B...honestly i think some of my answers are valid, only ms hoo just refuses to see my point! I only need 4 more marks to get an A...mr sera hasnt given us back our BM paper 2 marks yet even though he's had four weeks to mark them. Says that mr selvam is still checking them though i doubt that that's what's really happening. Mr Hafiz didnt come today as he was on leave and i really want to know my bio marks. Why does he always have to take leaves? Maybe as Chien Wen said, he got one eye only so must give handicap...xD

Went to the OBS gathering today at KLCC. Not many people turned up, there were only seven of us: Baihaqi, Ee Ken, Zheng Yi, Hui Ling, Denise and her twin sister, Charmaine, and myself. No one's really changed, but of course it was only six months. So we had lunch at the food court, i had a Big Mac, and while we were eating Bai and the twins got tickets for Shrek 3. Then we walked around looking at clothes and shoes. Didnt buy anything though. A lot of ppl say that Shrek 3 was a disappoinment, but it personally i found it ok.

School's starting tomorrow.......

A bunch of us ex-3 Galileo people went to 1U today to meet Shien-Yin who came down from Singapore. So there were seven of us: Aleena, Chien Wen, Jon, Nabil, Pui Yi, Shien-Yin and myself. We had lunch at Just Thai, where we ordered food ala carte style, and then when most of us were done i wasnt feeling satisfied somehow and just had to order another dish, which i couldnt finish. So i felt bad for wasting the food, but what to do, i was already full. Anyway this has only happened once or twice as i always finish off everything i order.

After lunch it was movie time! We had problems deciding what movie to watch, as usual. First it was 28 Weeks Later, but then we found out that wasnt released yet. I wanted to watch Next (the Nicholas Cage one), but then the next screening time was at 9pm!!! So we were left with Shrek 3 and POTC 3. Most of us had already watched Pirates 3 but were willing to watch it again, though i wanted something else. So we flipped my bass pick instead. Pirates 3 won. It wasnt as bad as i thought it would be, re-watching a 2.5++ hour movie, and Aleena was late as usual...xD. I think that's all we did, besides playing pool and foosball. Swimming and...urghh...yoga...again tomorrow...bummer.

Will be going to ipoh for two days to visit my grandfather tomorrow...and as usual my mom say we'll be leaving at 8, and then we'll probably leave at around 12 as always...Anyways ipoh has always been known for its horfun so i cant wait to start eating once we arrive...xD

I was browsing through this Sony catalogue just a while ago and saw that a 5.2 home cinema system actually existed! Imagine having two subwoofers...all that bass is gonna shake the walls during movie time! Cool...gonna have to persuade my parents to get a set no matter what...xD...Oh, the glory of twin woofers...
